When Veda kills Mildred's husband in a jealous rage, she pleads with her mother to take the rap.
Veda is the villain of the film, but Mildred isn't let off the hook, either.
'It's really your fault,' Veda wails, and Mildred recognizes the kernel of truth in her accusation.
There is, moreover, an express prohibition (of the Sûdras studying the Veda).

Though not one of the great gods of the Veda, he is mentioned fairly often and with respect.

Greetings! Apologies if this has been addressed before. I’ve been looking for good English versions of the Vedas, and so far I’ve found a mix of summaries and complete versions, but with widely varying reviews. This sub has been very helpful to me, so I thought I’d ask, what are you favorite recommendations? I’d prefer something that wasn’t so much “biblical speak” (thee and thou and spake), but that’s not really a stopper, if that’s the best choice. What do you think? Your help and advice is much appreciated! Anthony
